Replicating Production Environment: Design and set up a lab environment that closely mirrors the production WAN environment. This includes hardware, software, and configurations. Keep an accurate inventory of network devices and their configurations.
Quality of Service (QoS) configurations are tested by introducing different types of traffic with varying priority levels. This assesses how well the network maintains service quality for critical applications under heavy load.
The primary goal is to evaluate the network behaviour under various traffic loads and conditions, identifying performance bottlenecks, scalability limits, and assessing how well the network handles increased demand
Ensure that the lab standards are consistent with the architectural design and best practices.
Implementing Lab Configuration: Configure routers, switches, and other network devices based on the designed architecture and lab standards.
Collaborate closely with network architects to provide feedback on the performance and behaviour of the lab environment.
Iterate on the network design based on insights gained during lab testing and work with architects to refine the architecture.
Comprehensive Lab Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of the lab setup, configurations, test plans, and results.
Prepare documentation to hand over to operational teams, including standard operating procedures and troubleshooting guides.
What You Know
A minimum of 8+ years of proven professional experience is required.
Key Essential Skills:
Senior network design engineer level (i.e. CCIE)
MPLS/Segment Routing skills (carrier and/or service provider background )
Test Hardware and Software components utilizing in-house LAB
Desirable Skills:
Proven experience in designing and managing WAN solutions.
Strong knowledge of networking protocols, routing, and switching.
Familiarity with security best practices and compliance requirements.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Effective communication and collaboration skills
Education
BS in Computer Science or related fields; MS preferred
