How will you make an impact in this role?
Focus
Partnering with the Information Security Specialist for data access management, this role will lead the delivery of architected and engineered data access security controls and supports the ongoing operations of those controls that manage, monitor, measure, and report the data access security posture of the organization’s data estate. This role will lead the delivery of data access controls for semi-structured and unstructured data hosted on distributed servers, cloud, storage, file systems, file shares and collaboration repositories. Data access controls will cover person and non-person identities and their access, including but not limited to users, applications, APIs and GenAI.
Organizational Context
Reports to the Director of Data Access Management. The Data Access Management team architects, engineers and operates data access controls for structured, semi-structured and unstructured data hosted on the mainframe, distributed servers, cloud, storage and file systems, and collaboration repositories. Works across Technology Risk and Information Security, Privacy, Enterprise Data Governance, hosting platform teams to meet business, security, risk and compliance objectives for a Category 2 bank. The Data Access Management team functions in support of the broader Data Security Posture Management program.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for authoring controls, procedures and metrics and evaluating control effectiveness · Lead the evaluation and selection of best data access security tools and methods
Support the implementation of technology controls to remediate non-compliance with least privilege access principle
Lead and facilitate migration of non-compliant environments to compliant environments
Support stakeholders to achieve least privilege data access control
Implement security policies by administering and monitoring profiles, reviewing violation reports and investigating possible exceptions
Build relationships, lead meetings, gather and document information to measure and improve data access control effectiveness · Ensure currency of internal documentation library
Provide analysis and technical guidance for issue management
Prepare materials (reports, presentations, spreadsheets, etc.) to enable informed decision-making; guide the verification of completeness, accuracy and relevance of data gathered
Assist in the development, implementation, and governance of processes and initiatives to ensure compliance, cost optimization, and efficiency.
Lead the automation of day-to-day operational tasks, control operations validation, reporting and metrics.
Scope of Impact/Influence
Provide day-to-day operational management of data access controls and projects.
Make difficult and timely decisions regarding simple and complex business problems.
Accountable for data access methodologies, policies, standards and procedures are implemented and adherence is within risk toleration thresholds
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field preferred (or equivalent work experience)
Possess prior identity and access management hands on technical experience securing data hosted in various environments
Experience working with auditors and regulators
In-depth experience with MS O365 collaboration tools
In-depth experience with File Share protocols (NFS, CIFS), Confluence, File Shares, Azure, AWS and GCP
Experience instantiating access security controls and measuring control effectiveness
Certification(s): Associate Google Cloud Certified, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, CISM, MCSE, Microsoft 365 Certified: Teamwork Administrator Associate and/or Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert
