Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role as an Engineering Strategy & Project Manager located in Chennai. The Engineering Strategy & Project Manager will oversee and coordinate strategic engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement engineering strategies and drive project success.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a people-first leader with a strong grasp of project management and the ability to inspire and guide a team of 40 engineers. This is a management-focused role, perfect for someone with a background in leadership, project execution, and strategic thinking. While not highly technical, the ideal candidate should possess a natural curiosity and capacity to understand technical concepts and bridge the gap between engineering and senior management. If you have a background in social sciences, humanities, or related fields but thrive in leading technical teams and managing projects, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and inspire a team of 40 engineers, many of whom have 1 to 3 years of experience. Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performance culture.
- Project Management: Oversee multiple engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to deadlines, and alignment with company goals.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies to optimize workflows, improve team efficiency, and achieve organizational objectives.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary liaison between the engineering team and senior management, translating technical concepts into actionable insights and vice versa.
- Organizational Excellence: Maintain detailed project timelines, manage resources effectively, and ensure alignment across cross-functional teams.
- Problem Solving: Address and resolve project or team challenges with creativity, confidence, and pragmatism.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancements and foster a culture of innovation and curiosity within the team.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Social Sciences, Business, Engineering, or related disciplines).
- 3 to 5 years of experience in management or leadership roles, preferably with exposure to engineering or technical teams.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Proven leadership abilities with a track record of managing large teams and fostering team growth.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to bridge the gap between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- Natural curiosity and the capacity to grasp technical concepts without requiring deep technical expertise.
- Confidence in decision-making and the ability to inspire trust and respect among team members.
- Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, or Kanban).
