Role:
Leading and managing the Engineering Procurement function within the organization.
Develop and implement strategic procurement plans to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services required for engineering projects routine engineering requirements.
Collaborating with various internal stakeholders, external vendors, and cross-functional teams to optimize procurement processes and drive operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical:
Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the organization’s objectives and goals.
Oversee the entire procurement process, including sourcing, supplier selection, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to achieve cost-reduction targets without compromising quality or delivery timelines.
Monitor and analyse procurement metrics and KPIs to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

Leadership:
Lead and manage the procurement team, providing guidance, mentoring, and performance feedback.
Collaborate with engineering teams to understand their procurement needs, specifications, and project timelines.
Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to ensure favourable pricing, payment terms, and service levels.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure a reliable and consistent supply of goods and services.
Lead strategic change for Procurement – Engineering with excellent communication and team building skills

Decision-making:
Evaluate and select suppliers based on their capabilities, quality standards, delivery schedules, and pricing.
Make financial & functional decisions to positively impact both short & long-term site goals
Establish goals and milestones to lead and direct the team breaking down to tactical goal setting in line with superior strategies and policies of Procurement -Engineering

Innovation:
Encourage sharing and applying best practices and expertise with the team.
Stay updated with industry trends, market conditions, and technological advancements to drive innovation and efficiency in procurement processes.

Collaboration:
Collaborate with other departments, such as finance, legal, and operations, to align procurement activities with overall organizational objectives.

Risk Management:
Identify potential procurement risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations, particularly within a Pharma – Sterile and Non Sterile manufacturing and Biotechnology manufacturing context.

Ethics & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards in procurement activities.

Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain comprehensive procurement documentation, including procurement plans, progress reports, change requests, and final procurement deliverables.
Regularly report on procurement status to senior management and stakeholders, highlighting key milestones, risks, and outcomes.

Continuous Improvement:
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement processes, systems, and tools.

Qualifications:
B. Tech / M. Tech in Mechanical Engineering/ Process Engineering/ Biotechnology.
MBA in Supply Chain Management.

Experience:
At least 15-20 years of demonstrated experience in procurement of engineering goods and services in pharmaceutical / biotech industry, including at least five years in supervisory and second line management positions within a manufacturing environment.
Experience in complex pharma, vaccines and process manufacturing plants

and leadership experience for the management of internal and external resources
