Materials Engineering Lead
Job Description
Job Purpose: The team lead of Materials Engineering will lead the Materials Engineering team and is responsible to provide global expertise on metallurgy, manufacturing processes of castings, fabrication, forging and connection technologies (like welding, bolting) with his team. The team lead Materials Engineering will make sure the right materials / technologies are chosen for the different new developments or turbine upgrades as well as will support to understand root causes and solve field issues fast. Also new technologies/materials will need to be analyzed and qualified for introduction in the wind turbine.Key Responsibilities:Lead the materials engineering team in order to deliver in full (on time, at cost and at quality) on all deliverables (material choices, process / manufacturing expertise, bolting and welding technology, RCA)Set-up a global materials engineering team (competency and efficiency)Set-up cooperations with 3rd parties (e.G. engineering centres) to ensure fast supportTake part in expert gremium as well as support in defining guidelinesImplement / Drive new developments for materials, manufacturing processes as well as connection technologiesDeveloping processes and tools to optimize the work of the materials engineering team (e.G. enable fast and automated RCA resolution/documentation)Support certification activities related to grid behaviour DECS/Type CertificateMake sure NCR´s are solved on-time and with respective quality.Monitor execution tightly and pro-actively mitigate/Eliminate risks. Support / Drive customer communication on RCA / failure analysisImplement lean processes and management mechanisms for superior performance. Support sourcing and quality teams in vendor qualification and quality controlCommunicate effectively and constructively within own team, with colleagues across P& T and global organizationComply and ensure compliance of the team to all processes and procedures of Senvion India about program execution progress, risk, milestones etc.Ensure 100% compliance to QMS processesDesired Professional Experience:M.Sc./M.Tech /B.E in Materials/Metallurgy or equivalent Graduate with overall 10-15 years of experience.Must have experience in material technology, connection technologies (e.G. welding / bolting) and failure analysis Direct/Indirect exposure and working experience with certification bodies, customers on RCA/failure analysis and manufacturers regarding the quality processDirect/Indirect exposure to work with technology team, sales team, customer and supplier teamsGood Reporting and Documentation skills using MS-office tools.Must have experience in co-development of technologies / simulation tools with third partiesExperience in leading teams/departments with up to 15 people.Must have good organizational and communication skills in a global set-up, Ability to drive on ownBehavioral / Leadership CompetenciesDemonstrated bias for action and ability to get things doneHonesty, transparency and persistenceEffective and constructive communication with employees and managementCollaborative, team player, ability to facilitate, negotiate and coach.Demonstrated ability to get things done and execution focus (delivering to promises)Ability to make decision with uncertain information and ability to make trade-offs satisfying quality, schedule and budget requirements
