Project : Technical Assistance to ARSO in Road Safety:
The general objective of this assignment is to help improve road safety in Africa through the production of better data and capacitation on state-of-the-art decision making. This is a long-standing commitment of the AU towards its Member States. The EU is a long-term partner of the AU on this topic.

Position : Key Expert 2 – Data Manager
As Data Manager, your responsibilities will be:
Support the AU ARSO work program in relation to all data collection and data management tasks
Liaise and collaborate closely with AU, EU, WHO and other regional observatories as well to institutions collecting road safety-related data to ensure coordination in operational definitions, file management and data storage protocols

Assignment duration : 880 person-days in total (220 x 4 per year).

Qualifications and skills:
Master’s degree in engineering, biostatistics, data mining or a relevant, directly related discipline; In its absence, equivalent relevant professional experience of minimum of 7 years
Knowledge of technical tools for data management, such as SAP data management, SQL, Microsoft Azure or similar

Specific professional experience:
The expert must have at least 10 years of relevant professional experience in data management and analysis
The expert must have at least 3 years’ experience in working with road safety related data for the provision of technical assistance/cooperation projects and/or air transport economy and policy, and in conducting research on road safety topics

Language skills:
At least level C1 in English
Level B2 in French will be considered an asset
Knowledge of other languages spoken in Africa such as Arabic, Swahili, Zulu, etc. would be considered an asset;
