Job Description
Job Summary:
The Senior Controls Specialist will work closely the OT/IT teams to create solutions for the MES system by integrating with the PLC. Collaborate with suppliers to create standard equipment recommended for line builders and ways to integrate with MES. The code written by the Senior Controls Specialist will be utilized all across VinFast factories to create a standardized environment and ensure quality products.
The successful candidate is required to have working knowledge of IT (Information Technology) and OT (Operational Technology) convergence with experience in developing applications in a fast paced environment. This is a highly technical and hands-on role that will require strong knowledge of the shop floor and automation.
Responsibilities:
Develop standardized PLC and SCADA programs to integrate with MES for all factories within VinFast. The candidate will develop code for OEE, ANDON, Track & Trace, etc. to capture production line data.
Design the OT system based on operational processes and the needs of the business
Research and implement improvements to optimize system performance and when there are changes in processes and requirements from product development
Perform training for the Controls Specialists for new developments and enhancements and create document specifications.
Work with the Controls Specialists to design the implementation process for the assembly line to ensure integration with MES is smooth
Collaborate with the business by transforming reports into meaningful data-driven stories that effectively produce output for the business
Integrate with other technologies such as PLM and SAP, PLC, etc. by using APIs, OPC-UA, OPC-DA, and other protocols.
Research and develop integration with equipment (Atlas Copco, Leak/Air Testing, etc.)
Utilize SIEMENS framework to develop functions within SIEMENS OpCenter Discrete Manufacturing MOM platform
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
Skills and Experience:
3 – 5 years experience in Automation
Create solutions for integration with MES
Release solutions to the Controls Specialists to implement
Research and develop connectivity to the shop floor as required by the equipment
Work with vendors and engineers to create standardized equipment an assembly line is able to use to connect to MES
Develop new features in MES
Understanding of shop floor protocols to integrate with IT (OPC-UA, Modbus, etc.)
Train Controls Specialists and create documentation for solutions and enhancements
Experience working with customers as part of the software development process
Strong PLC programming experience (TIA Portal)
Strong SCADA programming experience (WinCC Unified)
Electrical and mechanical aptitude to understand the automation processes
Track record of integrating MES with other systems such as PLCs, SCADA, and ERP.
Other requirements (if needed):
Proficient in English (written and verbal)
Mitsubishi PLC/HMI experience is a bonus
Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Ability to facilitate meetings and follow up with action items
Exposure to manufacturing and automation process
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or other database technologies
Ability to program in one or more programming languages (C#, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Python etc.) is an asset
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or ePlan and the ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
