Role Description

Wayvida is seeking a General Manager Finance & Accounts  for a full-time, on-site role at its headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram, India. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the General Manager Finance & Accounts will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of all financial activities. The role encompasses financial planning, budgeting, compliance, reporting, and advisory, with a focus on leveraging data-driven insights to optimize performance and drive growth. The ideal candidate will ensure sound financial stewardship and play a pivotal role in scaling Wayvida in the dynamic EdTech landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Strategy and Planning
  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s goals.
  • Create long-term financial models to support strategic decision-making.
  • Manage financial risk, optimize capital structure, and ensure sufficient liquidity.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Oversee the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment with operational priorities.
  • Monitor budget performance and make recommendations for adjustments.
  • Provide accurate and timely forecasts to support decision-making.
  • Financial Reporting and Compliance
  • Ensure the preparation and presentation of accurate financial statements in compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Lead the preparation of reports for stakeholders, including board members and investors.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, corporate governance standards, and statutory regulations.
  • Accounting and Financial Operations
  • Manage the company’s accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal financial controls and procedures.
  • Optimize accounting systems and tools to improve efficiency.
  • Investor Relations and Fundraising
  • Collaborate with the CEO to manage investor relationships and fundraising activities.
  • Develop compelling financial presentations for current and potential investors.
  • Negotiate terms for equity or debt financing to support growth initiatives.
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team to enhance productivity and professional growth.
  • Work closely with other department heads to align financial plans with operational objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative environment to streamline cross-functional workflows.
  • Business Insights and Performance Monitoring
  • Leverage financial data analytics to identify growth opportunities and cost efficiencies.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive initiatives to improve them.
  • Provide strategic insights and financial advice to the leadership team.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CA, CFA, or MBA in Finance is preferred.
  • Experience:
  • 10+ years of experience in financial management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record in a startup or high-growth company, preferably in the education or technology sector.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and advanced MS Excel.
  • In-depth knowledge of Indian accounting standards, tax regulations, and corporate governance.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills to convey complex financial information to diverse stakeholders.
